Bill T’s 1970 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Bill T’s 1970 Chevelle

Would you believe that this 1970 Chevelle was found on Craigslist about 5 years ago? It still retained the original 350 small block 4 bolt main equipped with the 2 barrel carburetor but Bill would not let it stay that way for long.

It is far from stock now, with aluminum heads as well as roller rockers, an aluminum intake, a new Holley Brawler carburetor, beefier cam, HEI distributor and other chrome accessories. The old TH350 has also been swapped for a 200R4 unit with overdrive that has been built for 750hp/650tq. Bill hasn’t yet gotten around to changing out the 10 bolt rear for a 12 bolt but there are plans.

A 4 wheel disc brake kit with cross drilled and slotted rotors and red powder coated calipers peek out from behind the spokes of the Boss 338 18 inch wheels to not only give off an aggressive stance but also to drastically aid in stopping power.

Suspension has been reworked with tubular control arms in both the front and the rear of the Chevelle, which are set off by 2 inch lowering springs as well as bigger sway bars in the front and the rear. With all of these items combined, this Chevelle is a corner carver on the back roads.

This 1970 Chevelle has been repainted in the original Cortez Silver which brings out the body lines of the original ’70 sheet metal well. Even all of the glass are original pieces. New chrome accent pieces such as bumpers, emblems, and various moldings complement the fresh paint nicely.

“I just love Chevelle. It’s my third one and my favorite part is that I can drive it anywhere and yes the positive comments and the thumbs up do help and make me smile.”

Bill

Last but not least, the interior has seen some refreshing. The carpet is brand new as are the seat covers and dash gauges. Even the air conditioning system has been reworked with new components and a conversion to R134A refrigerant.

This 1970 Chevelle participated in the 2018 Hot Rod Power Tour with all of the new performance bits, but before it went in for the new paint and vinyl top. That was most likely a good thing, as the Power Tour would have done a number on fresh paint over the course of 1800 miles.

Future plans for the 1970 Chevelle involve a 12 bolt posi rear differential with preferably 3.55 gearing. Bill would love to swap in an LS engine someday, but for now he’s content with the built 350 small block.

"Very nice people and fast shipping."

-Bill T
