In the automotive world, many companies are started in a garage, just like 66Aero did. Somebody in the garage is working and makes a part out of necessity for their vehicle because they don’t like what’s out there or maybe there isn’t anything out there. Then their buddy wants one and before you know it, a business is born.
That story is similar with many automotive companies and 66Aero‘s story is no different. They started looking at the Chevelle in the garage and just weren’t happy with the fitment of some of the parts available for it. They decided to build something better that fit their needs but also fit the needs of other A-Body owners.
66Aero's Shock(ing) Tower Start
The first part was a rear shock tower brace. While it seems simple enough, there were three to four versions before this final version. They didn’t like how it would keep hitting the floor of the early A-Bodies so a one-piece design was chosen for maximum clearance. Soon, a friend asked for one and the business was born.
From there a front sway bar mount was developed. Same as the rear they wanted something that was low-profile so it couldn’t really be seen from the front of the car. After designing a test fitting numerous vehicles this final version came into play. This brace helps tie together the frame rails in the front to help the suspension do its job.
