Richie H’s 1968 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Richie H’s 1968 Chevelle

Richie built this 1968 Chevelle in late 2001 with the intention of selling it to pick up a 1969 Camaro, but he still owns the Chevelle to this day.

He performed the work on the Chevelle mostly on his own, including bodywork and paint, though his brother Joey helped. Just about all of the parts were purchased through Ground Up Inc. when they were based out of Long Island, NY in the early 2000s. In fact, Joey worked for both B&R Performance and Ground Up at that time.

His hard work paid off, as Richie’s 1968 Chevelle has won the Goodguys Award in 2010 at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. He’s also won several awards such as Best Engine, Best Paint, and Best Chevy at various local shows.

“I must say my 20yr old paint job is my favorite. Still looking good.”

Richie H

Richie has equipped his Chevelle with a small block 350 crate engine and paired it up to a TH350 transmission, a fairly standard combination to say the least. It sits on QA1 coilovers in the front and 3 inch lowering springs out back, with 255/40 18×8 wheels and tires up front and some wide 285/40 18×9.5 American Racing wheels in the rear.

Goals for the future are fairly simple, to equip the 1968 Chevelle with a Vintage Air system. Otherwise he plans to continue to cruise and show off the Chevelle whenever he can get an opportunity.
