Rex M’s 1971 Chevelle Malibu

Built From The Ground Up

Rex M’s 1971 Chevelle Malibu

This is Rex’s 1971 Chevelle granny Malibu resto-mod sleeper.

This Chevelle is packing a lot more than it lets on from the outside. While it looks like a plain jane Malibu, it actually has a (Street Force 2) cammed 454 big block under that standard hood. He’s also upgraded the carburetor with an Edelbrock 4 bbl, and it breathes through Summit headers and a turbo exhaust.

“Runs and drives like new not super powerful but enough for an old guy with nothin’ to prove.”

Rex

In addition to the extra power, this Chevelle has a 4 wheel disc brake conversion with Corvette calipers and rotors up front, a quick ratio steering rack, and upgraded 17 inch wheels to accommodate the larger brakes.

Rex has a few upgrades planned for the future of this Malibu. He’d like to install aluminum heads and possibly swap the standard TH350 auto for a newer TH700R4 instead. There’s also the possibility of going 3.73 gears with a posi rear and and an aftermarket air conditioning system.
