Jim picked “Ethyl” (his 1968 El Camino) up in a trade for a BSA motorcycle he built while in the USAF. His El Camino came from Texas, moved to Las Vegas with him, then finally came home to Pennsylvania. It was Jim’s first cross-country cruise with so many stories and great memories. As they say, “See the USA in your Chevrolet”….
Jim’s El Camino has a small block 327, which is balanced & blueprinted. It has high dome 11:75 compression pistons, Pro Max aluminum heads, roller rockers, Summit stage 3 intake topped with a Holley 4150. It also has a HEI conversion with MSD upgrades and an aluminum radiator.
The transmission is a Hughes TH400, and the rear is a 12-bolt posi with 3:73 gears. Jim’s El Camino’s suspension is upgraded with tubular control arms with a 2″ drop in front, complemented with a set of coilovers. Jim also upgraded the brakes to discs, which are hiding behind 15″ Corvette rally wheels. Finally, the El Camino is finished in Corvette charcoal metallic paint.
Jim likes to haul his latest 1968 BSA bike around in it, and is redoing the dash now with Intellitronix classic gauges, then it should just about be complete!
