Douglas bought his 1972 Chevelle from a lady friend at work who got it in a divorce settlement in the mid 80’s.
It was starting to turn into a Michigan rust bucket. Doug sourced replacement parts for the 1972 Chevelle from all over the country. The floorboards were from Georgia, the doors, fenders, and frame came from Kentucky. The Chevelles’ rear quarters came from a Michigan donor.
This allowed Doug to complete the body rebuild in 1999 and paint in 2001. The Chevelle was fully on the road in 2004. This wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t a true Malibu sport coupe, Doug says. The Chevelle is factory-equipped with a 350 (260hp) and a 4-speed. and has a rear with 4:10 gears. This car was special-ordered with Hugger Orange paint, black stripes, bucket seats, console, and an SS dash with clock.
Doug plans to freshen up the Chevelle with a respray this winter, as it has been a summer daily driver for Him and his wife for many years. SS396.com is here if he needs any more parts in the future!
