Albert S Jr’s 1967 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Albert S Jr’s 1967 Chevelle

Albert always wanted a ’67 small block car. This one was purchased from the family of a Notre Dame Professor in June of 2023. The professor’s three daughters came to town to take it for a final cruise, before releasing it to him to finalize the sale.

Some backstory: The Chevelle was California-built, and sold new in Eugene, Oregon where it resided until 1994. It was purchased in 1994 from the professor’s aunt’s Fiancé who needed the money for wedding rings. The professor had his eye on the car for some time as it was a daily driver and he had seen it on previous visits to Oregon. The car has been in South Bend Indiana ever since his purchase back then.

In 2010 the professor decided that the 283/Power Glide setup that it was born with had to go. He wanted it to have a 327 with a 4-speed. Ultra Tech out of Mishawaka Indiana was commissioned to build a 327 from a 1967 Impala. It was a  275hp 327 with a 350hp cam and some ceramic-coated long tube headers. A rebuilt M20 4 speed was installed, and the 3:08 was replaced with a 3:73 Posi.

Right now Albert’s Chevelle is in the shop getting the Ermes White paint re-done. He says he would like in the future either a 5-speed or OD unit for highway driving.
