Cary G’s 1966 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Cary G’s 1966 Chevelle

This 1966 Chevelle was restored from many pieces that Cary purchased off a friend around 2010. Ultimately it was a 3 year process to get everything back together into the condition pictured here.

It began as a yellow 6 cylinder Powerglide car and has been totally reworked into a resto-mod machine equipped with QA1 coilovers and UMI Performance suspension, with a sinister black paint job by Cary’s good friend. Cary has two sets of wheels that are interchanged, depending on the preferred look of the 1966 Chevelle at the time they could either be period looking Coker Redlines or American Racing Torq Thrusts.

Cary has a rebuilt 350 small block with a Crane cam and Vortec heads, topped with an Edelbrock carburetor. This combination creates a note that sounds more like a lumpy big block than a 350. An older Tremec 5 speed transmission moves the power to the ground. There are also Flowmaster ceramic headers and a Magnaflow dual exhaust that allow the small block to breathe, while it has also been modified for Delco HEI ignition.

Interior mods include Vintage Air, Classic AutoSound audio, Classic Instruments gauges, and Scat bucket seats. Fuel injection is going to be Cary’s next mod to his mean 1966 Chevelle.
