Jeff F’s 1972 Chevelle SS

Built From The Ground Up

Jeff F’s 1972 Chevelle SS

Jeff recently found this 1972 Chevelle as a replacement for the 1971 Chevelle he sold to his cousin over 25 years ago. He made the deal with his cousin under the condition that when he wanted to sell it, Jeff would have the first crack at buying it back.

Needless to say, Jeff’s cousin wasn’t going to make the same mistake as Jeff did and part with the car. After five long years of searching, Jeff finally found the replacement, a 1972 Chevelle Super Sport.

Jeff’s recently found 1972 Chevelle Super Sport came fresh out of a five-year frame-off restoration. The underside is just as clean and shiny as the top side, with all of the steel panels, inner and outer wheelhouses, inner fenders, floors, and trunk pans being replaced prior to Jeff buying the car.

“While I’ve restored a few classics over the years, this time I made the decision to buy someone else’s finished product and save myself a lot of time and money!”

– Jeff

Jeff’s 1972 Chevelle features a 454 powerplant with extensive performance add-ons that now cranks out just shy of 640 horsepower to the rear wheels.

Coming out of the rear sits a 3″ stainless exhaust with custom made American Racing headers and mufflers with an X Pipe. It sounds about as mean as it can be without running open headers! Coupled to the 640 horsepower is a TCI short shaft TH400 transmission with a 3,500 stall converter, built to handle up to 850HP! The rear end has a 12 bolt WaveTrac positraction unit, with c-clip eliminators, 35 spline Strange axles, and a 4.88 gear.

“When you hit the gas hard it feels like you’re being pushed through the seats, and you’d swear it could yank a house off of its foundation!”

– Jeff

It has had every nut, bolt, and bushing replaced, an all-new interior, carbon fiber AutoMeter Gauges mounted into a custom made dash, and still utilizes the factory correct horseshoe shifter running it through the gears, quickly Jeff might add!

The color is called Eleanor Pepper Grey with the correct Super Sport stripes done in black. Working with the color of Eleanor Pepper Grey (same color as Eleanor in Gone in 60 Seconds) He’s chosen to name the 1972 Chevelle “ChevellEleanor” or CHVLNOR for short, due to Wisconsin limiting Jeff to 7 characters on their personalized license plates!

All in all, there’s little left for Jeff to do to his 1972 Chevelle, except finishing touches, emblems, exhaust tips, and then out to tear up the roads!
