Rob & Carol’s 1970 Chevelle SS396

Built From The Ground Up

Rob & Carol’s 1970 Chevelle SS396

Robert Cox originally purchased this Cortez Silver 1970 Chevelle SS396 on February 14th, 1970 and has taken amazing care of it in his subsequent 50 years of ownership. While it used to be his daily driver for the first 20 years, it has since become just a “frequent” driver and local car show competitor.

This Chevelle was optioned with the 350hp 396 big block paired to a close ratio four speed transmission. Factory air conditioning, posi-traction rear, and bucket seats are a few other notable features that he optioned when purchasing new. Barring a few odds and ends, this car remains totally stock other than a few GM replacement parts over the years.

“This car is a time machine, every time I grab a gear I go back to when I was 22 again.”
