At Ground Up Motors – SS396.com, we understand that sometimes a part just doesn’t work out. That’s why we offer a straightforward return policy to help make things right.

Products may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund, provided the item is in its original condition and has not been modified, altered, painted, installed, or damaged.

Returns received after 30 days are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
Returns are not accepted after 90 days and will be returned to the customer at their expense.

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise authorized by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com.

How Do I Return An Item?

To initiate a return or cancellation, please contact our Sales & Customer Support team prior to sending any items back.

As long as the item has not been modified, altered, painted, installed, damaged, or disassembled from its original condition, it may be returned within 90 days of receipt, subject to our return terms.

All returns must be shipped via Ground Services to the following address:

Packages sent to 91 Great Hill Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770 will be returned to the sender at their expense.

Can I Return A Product That Was Purchased Over 30 Days Ago?

Products can be returned after 30 days, provided they remain unmodified, uninstalled, and in original condition. However, returns requested after 30 days are subject to a 25% restocking fee.

Please note: We do not offer exchanges or store credit at this time—only refunds are issued once the return has been received and inspected. All refunds are issued back to the original payment method.

How Do I Get A Return Label?

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs, unless the item was received damaged, defective, or shipped in error.

Any missing or damaged items must be reported within 3 days of receipt.

If you believe your return qualifies for a prepaid return label, please contact our Customer Support team for assistance prior to sending the item back.

Are There Any Items That Are Non-Returnable?


Certain items are non-returnable due to their nature, customization, or special order status. These include but are not limited to:

  • Literature, CDs, videos, and printed materials

  • Electrical parts, wiring harnesses, gauges, and switches

  • Stencils and stripe kits

  • Paint and colored products

  • Tires

  • Clearance items

  • Special order items

How Long Do Refunds Take To Process?

Refunds are issued only after returned items are received and inspected by our Returns Department.

Once your return has been processed and approved, we will initiate the refund.

Please note: The time it takes for funds to appear in your account depends on your financial institution and may vary.

If there are any issues with processing your refund, our Customer Service team will contact you directly.

How Long Do Exchanges Take?

We no longer offer standard product exchanges, except in cases where a direct replacement is required for a damaged or defective item.

Direct replacements are typically processed only after the original item has been received and inspected by our Returns Department. If there is any issue with availability or pricing, our team will contact you to resolve the matter before proceeding.

If you are wanting a different product from your return, you may choose to:

  • Purchase the replacement item separately in advance, and your return will be refunded once processed. 

  • Wait until your return is processed and refunded, then place a new order.

Any item that has been altered, painted, installed, or deemed non-resalable will be returned to the customer at their expense. If the customer declines to pay for return shipping, the item will be properly discarded.

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for any labor fees related to the installation, removal, modification, or repair of products, regardless of the circumstances.

We are also not liable for any damage or discoloration caused by chemical products, including cleaners, waxes, polishes, paints, or similar materials.

Tips For Returning Packages

  • All items must be returned in their original product packaging to avoid a re-packaging/restocking fee.

  • Do not write on or attach shipping labels directly to the product packaging.

  • Carefully package your item(s) to prevent damage during transit.

  • Take a photo of the product before packing in case any shipping issues arise.

  • Use a traceable Ground Shipping Service (e.g., FedEx, UPS, or USPS with insurance) so you can monitor your return’s progress.

  • Damages that occur during return shipping are the responsibility of the sender.
