Jim R’s 1970 Chevelle SS396 Clone

Built From The Ground Up

Jim R’s 1970 Chevelle SS396 Clone

Jim R. acquired a pair of 1970 Chevelles back in 2010, including this automatic model and another 4 speed car. This ’70 was originally a Gobi Beige 6 cylinder car, the archetype of the “little old lady car” when Jim got it, since then it has been reworked to become a driver of an SS396 clone car.

This 1970 Chevelle has been outfitted with a 350 small block crate motor paired to a brand new TH350 transmission. It received a repaint in Misty Turquoise, an incredible color that isn’t often seen. Other components were either painstakingly sourced NOS parts or reproductions from Ground Up SS396.com. The restoration was completed in 2015, and Jim claims that the Chevelle could be daily driven after everything was said and done.

Just love the car … It’s a real car not like a Honda that has no room to move … Fun to drive goes straight down the road.

Jim
