Jesse B’s 1970 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Jesse B’s 1970 Chevelle

Jesse’s father bought the 1970 Chevelle Sedan back in the late 1980s for the chrome on the grill. His other ‘70 Sedan needed the Chrome and there weren’t any available in reproduction at the time. After buying the car for $100 he still had a complete car. So, he threw 456’s in the rear end and had fun with it around town.

He continued blowing stock Mustangs and Camaros off the road with various cheap motors. Oh, how they hated being beaten by a crap wagon! Jesse’s father sold the car to a guy that wanted it, but a year later was able to buy it back since the individual was leaving for the Air Force. It wasn’t long before his father had his son and daughter and decided to put the cars in storage for the time being. Twenty-seven years later his son, Jesse, brought the wagon out of storage. He would put together a unique car that you don’t see every day.

It was in pieces, but it had been perfectly persevered. After three years, the big puzzle was put together and making passes at the local drag strip, with the intent of racing in the Drag & Drive events happening around the country.

The 1970 Chevelle is currently sporting a combination of modifications including a pump gas Dart 427 stroker motor making 550hp with a Th350 and the same 456 gears in the 12-bolt rear end.

Most people see a wagon and say it’s a giant boat. While the bumpers and hood are fiberglass the rest of the body is steel with original glass. The car weighed in at 3,435 pounds (about 1558.09 kg) including a full interior. Its fastest time in the 1/4 mile is 11:76 at 112 mph.

Jesse states that a Chevelle deserves to have a Big Block Chevy, and that he will soon be getting a BBC 496 tunnel ram motor.

"Great catalog. I keep it around to reference parts which help me locate items on your website."
