Joseph T B’s 1966 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Joseph T B’s 1966 Chevelle

In 1983, a good friend was building a 1966 Chevelle from two 1966 Chevelles he had. He kept what he wanted and sold the rest to Joseph.

It’s an original 138 car, but by the time he bought it, it had a blown-out 350, a Saginaw 4 speed, and a ten bolt axle in it. He decided to replace the small block with another small block, which he guess to be about 300hp.

Due to his experience with GM clutch countershafts breaking, he decided to convert the 1966 Chevelle to an automatic as he intended to use the car for transportation. And that’s what it was until the early 2000s. He doesn’t drive it as much now, about 1000 miles/year.

Currently, it’s powered by a mild 350 with a TH700r4 and a twelve bolt 3.42 posi.

It has front spindles and disc brakes from a 1970 Monte Carlo. It has a GM G-body steering box (about three turns lock to lock). The seats are from a GM G-body. He also has an Ididit steering column installed.

He has a Vintage Air kit ready for installation on the 1966 Chevelle. He is going to hire that job out, instead of doing it himself.

"I've had positive experience buying from Ground Up, including contact with sales staff and quality and delivery of parts."
