Troy B’s 1966 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Troy B’s 1966 Chevelle

Troy was told by a friend of his that this 1966 Chevelle was sitting on Yucaipa Blvd when he was home on break from working overseas back in 1991. This would be Troy’s third Chevelle, and coincidentally his least favorite body style. Somehow he’s owned it the longest.

The Chevelle utilizes the cheapest crate engine that Chevy makes paired to a 1995 vintage T56 6 speed transmission. Out back it sports an 8.2 inch positraction rear end with 3.55 gearing. Supporting the rear end are Globalwest lower arms and Competition upper arms, while the front control arms remain stock but use better bushings than factory. Handling is also assisted by a 1.25 inch diameter sway bar to tie everything together.

Rounding out underneath the 1966 Chevelle are 1969 spindles and brakes that lead to Edelbrock shocks & Eibach springs. Seeing as how this custom Chevelle has been done for so long, Troy would like to install modern Wilwood brakes in the near future as well as potentially a Ridetech Strong Arm front suspension setup, coilovers all around, and of course, add more horsepower.

Just recently, he undertook a truly custom paint job with oversight from the experts at Hotdog Kustoms in Temecula, CA during Christmas 2020. It is a vibrant, heavily stylized theme which will require a new, unique set of wheels to match. A set of Digitails LED tail lights add a touch of technology to the rear end. Troy plans to fully update and transform this Chevelle in the near future.
