Clair H’s 1970 Chevelle SS396

Built From The Ground Up

Clair H’s 1970 Chevelle SS396

This 1970 Chevelle is identical to the one Clair bought new in 1970, aside from the manual steering on this example.

The interior has been fully replaced except for the console, dash, and arm rests, which were in very good condition. The same could not be said for other portions of the interior, where mice had set up nests in the headliner, rear seat, and driver bucket seat.

As a stroke of luck, the line schedule tag was found located inside the driver seat. This is the Canadian equivalent to the build sheet if a GM car was built at the Oshawa, Ontario plant.

This Chevelle needed the carburetor rebuilt, but Clair had the Quadrajet carb from the original Chevelle sitting in a box, had that one rebuilt instead, and now a part of that original SS396 is on this Chevelle SS.

This 1970 Chevelle is an L34 396/350hp factory 4 speed Muncie, with a rear axle ratio of 3.31. It brings back many memories from between the years of 1970-78, when that first Chevelle was sold off. Now that this one is finished and restored, Clair plans to make new lasting memories with it.
