11th Annual Ground Up Car Show – 2015
It was another excellent show with over 300 beautifully restored, high performance, and customized cars that made their way to our facility in Naugatuck, CT for the 11th Annual Ground Up, Inc. Car Show on Sunday, July 12th. The show officially started at 8:00 am, but the cars started lining up at the gates around 7:00.
Ground Up teamed up with The United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls to once again close down the entire street for a day of awesome cars, and fun! All cars entering the show received a goody bag stuffed with a ton of free loot. Even in these hard economic times, Ground Up received more support from vendors than any previous year in the form of raffle items, gift certificates, and other promotional items showing that the classic car community is still as alive as ever. Just about everyone left the show with something good!
By 9:30 in the morning the sun started to really heat things up. At least 200 cars had already arrived. The street and parking lots were filling up. There was plenty to see. Many of our vendors were on hand to answer questions, and provide information. Pizzeria Napoletana, Bills hot dogs, and thePhil’s and Tom’s Vintage 60’s Ice Cream truck provided the foodwith The United Way selling water to raise money.
We had so many makes and models on hand this year. From Chevy, to Studebaker, to Jaguar. The late model Camaro club CT5thGEN was here again with a small fleet of cars. They always have the latest Camaros including an awesome black 2015 Z/28.
Ground Up’s own army of cars were lined up on display in front of the building. This included lots of our Chevelles, Camaros, and Novas! We unveiled our latest barn find the 1970 Chevelle LS6. A beautiful example in red with black SS stripes, black interior, 4 Speed, buckets with a console.
Judging started at 10:30 am with 22 different classes including Best Camaro, Best Chevelle, Best Nova, and a Top Ten class. Along with 16 Trophies from the Connecticut Cruise News. At the end of the day, Ground Up and the United Way were able to collect over $4,500 for local charity.
Another great show thanks to all the people who came out with their cars, and families!
