Ordering & Product Policies

Back Ordered Items

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com displays inventory availability for all products on SS396.com at the time an order is placed. Despite best efforts to maintain accurate inventory, certain items may become unavailable due to supplier constraints, manufacturing delays, or other factors beyond our control.


Order Fulfillment & Shipping Practices

When an order contains a combination of in-stock and back-ordered items, in-stock items will ship separately ahead of back-ordered items, unless the customer specifically requests that the order ship complete.


In the following situations, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may hold an entire order or kit to ship complete without prior notice:

  • If a kit contains one or more back-ordered components, the full kit may be held until all components are available to ensure complete and accurate delivery.

  • If a back-ordered item is expected to arrive within seven (7) business days, the entire order may be held so it can ship complete.


Back-ordered items are generally shipped automatically upon arrival at our warehouse unless otherwise requested by the customer. Advance shipment notification may not be provided prior to fulfillment.


If a back-ordered item remains unavailable for more than ninety (90) days, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will make a reasonable effort to contact the customer to confirm next steps prior to shipment.


Back Order Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel a back-ordered item must notify Ground Up Motors – SS396.com prior to shipment. Once a back-ordered item has shipped, standard return policies apply, including applicable return shipping costs and restocking fees.


Pricing on Back-Ordered Items

Pricing on back-ordered items is subject to change due to factors beyond our control, including but not limited to labor costs, manufacturing changes, material availability, freight costs, tariffs, or other unforeseen circumstances.


To provide reasonable price protection, the original purchase price is guaranteed for sixty (60) days from the order date. After sixty (60) days, the item may be subject to a price adjustment.


If a price increase is required after the 60-day price protection period:

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will not ship the item without the customer’s approval of the adjusted price.

  • We will make reasonable efforts to contact the customer regarding the price change.

  • If we are unable to obtain customer approval within five (5) business days, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may elect to cancel the back-ordered item and issue a refund to the original payment method.

Discounting

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com offers various promotions, discounts, and special pricing opportunities from time to time. Not all products are eligible for discounting or free shipping.


Discounts and free shipping offers do not apply to any item marked as “Part eligible for discounting: NO” or “Part eligible for free shipping: NO.” These eligibility restrictions apply regardless of the promotion being advertised.


Eligible discounts and promotions may be applied to both in-stock and out-of-stock items, unless explicitly stated otherwise within the terms of a specific promotion.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to exclude any product from discounting or free shipping at any time, even if the item is not specifically marked as excluded in print catalogs, online listings, advertisements, or promotional materials.


Unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • Only one discount or promotional offer may be applied per order

  • Discounts, including team discounts, promotional codes, special pricing, and free shipping offers, may not be combined


All discounts and promotional offers:

  • Are only valid during the stated promotional period

  • Must be applied at the time the order is placed

  • Cannot be applied retroactively to orders placed before or after the promotion period

  • Cannot be added to an order once the promotion has expired, even if the promotion was active at the time the item was viewed, added to a cart, or previously discussed


Discounts and promotions have no cash value, are not redeemable for cash or credit, and are non-transferable.

All discounts, free shipping offers, and promotional terms are subject to change, modification, or cancellation at any time without notice.

Product Availability & Pricing

The availability of all products listed on SS396.com and in Ground Up Motors – SS396.com print catalogs is subject to change at any time without prior notice. Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to discontinue, limit quantities of, or modify products, services, accessories, or product offerings at any time.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com also reserves the right to substitute comparable products of similar form, fit, and function, including products from different manufacturers or brands, when necessary due to availability constraints, manufacturing changes, or supplier discontinuations.


While Ground Up Motors – SS396.com makes reasonable efforts to maintain accurate and current pricing, pricing errors, omissions, or discrepancies may occur. All prices are subject to change without notice due to factors including, but not limited to, increased manufacturing costs, material availability, freight costs, tariffs, labor costs, or supplier price adjustments.


In the event of a pricing error or discrepancy, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to correct the price and cancel or adjust the order prior to shipment. If a pricing correction materially impacts an order, the customer will be notified and provided the option to accept the corrected price or cancel the affected item(s).

Kit Products

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com offers bundled kit products through SS396.com and our Parts and Accessories catalogs. These kits are designed to provide added value and convenience by grouping commonly purchased components together. Most kits are exclusive to Ground Up Motors – SS396.com and are not eligible for additional discounting or price matching against competitor kits or individually priced components.


Kit pricing reflects bundled value and may not be broken down, itemized, or adjusted based on individual component pricing, availability, or competitor offerings.


Kit Availability & Fulfillment

Kit availability is dependent on the availability of each individual component included in the kit. One or more components may be unavailable or placed on back order at the time an order is placed or during order processing.


In accordance with the Back Orders policy, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may, at its discretion, fulfill kit orders in one of the following ways without prior notice:

  • Partial Shipment: In-stock components may ship immediately, with unavailable components placed on back order and shipped separately when available.

  • Complete Shipment: The entire kit may be held and shipped complete once all components are available.


If a customer wishes to request that a kit ship complete, this must be clearly communicated at the time the order is placed, either verbally when ordering by phone or noted during online checkout. While customer requests will be considered, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com retains final discretion regarding fulfillment method.


Shipping & Fees

If Ground Up Motors – SS396.com elects to ship a kit in multiple shipments due to component availability, any additional shipping or freight charges associated with those shipments will be covered by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com.


If a customer requests or elects to have a kit ship in multiple or partial shipments, any additional shipping or freight charges incurred as a result of that request are the responsibility of the customer and are non-refundable.


All back-ordered kit components are subject to the terms outlined in the Back Orders policy, including shipment timing, pricing protections, and cancellation procedures.

Special Order, Colored, & Non-Returnable Product

Special Order, Colored, & Non-Returnable Products

Due to the nature of restoration parts and the use of multiple manufacturers, color variations may occur among products supplied by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com. Slight color differences—particularly among interior components—are common and are not considered defects.


Color Variations & Display Accuracy

Colors displayed on SS396.com, in print catalogs, or on computer monitors may vary from the actual product due to differences in screen settings, lighting, materials, manufacturing processes, and production runs. As a result:

  • Color variation alone does not qualify a product as defective

  • Returns will not be accepted solely due to color mismatch, shade variation, or customer preference


If precise color matching is critical, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com recommends ordering black or neutral-colored components and finishing them using interior paint or dyes to achieve the desired match. Alternatively, some suppliers offer free color samples to confirm coloring before ordering, please contact our support team for more information.


Non-Returnable Products

Certain products sold by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com are designated as non-returnable due to their nature, handling requirements, or manufacturer restrictions. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Colored interior products

  • Special-order, built-to-order, or made-to-spec products

  • Custom-manufactured or date-coded items (including, but not limited to, glass and gauge clusters)

  • Glass products of any type, whether date-coded or non-date-coded

  • Tires

  • Specialty items shipped directly from manufacturers or third-party suppliers

  • Items requiring special packaging, handling, or freight services


Products identified as non-returnable will be noted online and/or in our catalogs when applicable. However, the absence of a non-returnable designation does not guarantee return eligibility.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to designate additional products as non-returnable when reasonable due to product type, manufacturer policy, condition sensitivity, or logistical constraints.


Customers who are unsure whether a product is returnable must contact Ground Up Motors – SS396.com prior to placing an order for clarification.


Returns & Cancellations

Non-returnable products may not be returned once an order has been processed, shipped, or entered production, including for reasons of color variation, shade mismatch, customer preference, or ordering error.


In limited cases where cancellation is requested before an item has entered production, shipped, or been allocated, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may, at its sole discretion, approve the cancellation. Approved cancellations may be subject to a minimum 25% restocking or processing fee, depending on manufacturer policies and costs incurred.

International Orders

International Orders

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com offers international shipping for eligible products using approved international shipping methods. To ensure accurate calculation of duties, taxes, and shipping costs, international orders are processed through Zonos, our international checkout provider.


Customers shipping to an eligible international address will be automatically redirected to the Zonos international checkout during the shipping stage of checkout. All international orders must be placed and completed online through this process.


Product Eligibility & Shipping Method

Not all products are eligible for international shipment. Certain items cannot be shipped internationally due to size, weight, carrier limitations, export restrictions, freight requirements, manufacturer limitations, or destination-country regulations, including items requiring LTL or freight shipment.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to designate any product as ineligible for international shipment at any time, even if that product was previously available for international delivery. Such determinations may be made due to changes in carrier availability, regulatory requirements, supplier restrictions, cost considerations, or logistical constraints.


International orders are shipped complete only. If an order contains one or more items that prevent international shipment, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will notify the customer and provide available options for proceeding prior to shipment.


Duties, Taxes & Fees

All applicable duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and import charges are calculated and presented during the Zonos checkout process when available. These charges are the sole responsibility of the customer, regardless of whether they are prepaid, estimated, or collected at delivery.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for delays, refusals, holds, additional charges, or failed deliveries resulting from customs clearance, inspections, or import regulations imposed by the destination country.


Freight Forwarder Orders

Customers may choose to arrange international shipment using a freight forwarder of their choice. Customers must clearly notify Ground Up Motors – SS396.com that an order is shipping to a freight forwarder at the time the order is placed, either verbally when ordering by phone or by noting this during online checkout.


If Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not notified that an order is shipping to a freight forwarder, the order will be processed and fulfilled as a standard domestic shipment, and all standard domestic shipping, delivery, and claims policies will apply.

When an order is identified as shipping to a freight forwarder:

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will ship the order domestically to the freight forwarder’s designated U.S. address.

  • Shipping charges quoted by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com apply only to delivery to the freight forwarder.

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will communicate exclusively with the customer, not the freight forwarder.

  • Once delivery is confirmed to the freight forwarder, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com’s responsibility for the order ends, subject to the inspection and reporting window outlined below.

  • The freight forwarder and/or customer has three (3) business days from confirmed delivery to inspect the shipment and report any damaged, missing, or incorrect items to Ground Up Motors – SS396.com.

  • Any loss, damage, or shortage not reported within this three (3) business day window, or occurring after this inspection period, is the sole responsibility of the freight forwarder.

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will not be liable for replacing, returning, refunding, or resending any items reported as missing or damaged after the inspection period has elapsed.


All international documentation, customs filings, export paperwork, and compliance requirements are the responsibility of the customer and/or the freight forwarder.

Shipping Policies

Oversize Items

Certain products sold by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may require oversize, special handling, or non-standard packaging due to their size, weight, shape, or carrier requirements. While most shipping charges are calculated automatically at checkout, additional oversize or handling charges may be required after an order is placed based on final packaging, carrier reclassification, or updated carrier billing rules.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to assess additional oversize or handling charges on any item when necessary, even if those charges were not reflected at checkout.


If an additional shipping or handling charge is required:

  • The order will be placed on hold pending customer approval of the adjusted charge.

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will make reasonable efforts to contact the customer to obtain approval prior to shipment.

  • The item will not ship without customer approval of the adjusted charge.

  • If Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is unable to obtain customer approval within a reasonable timeframe, the order or affected item may be cancelled without further notice, and any payments made will be refunded to the original payment method.

Expedited Shipping

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com offers expedited shipping options for customers who require faster delivery. Expedited shipping applies to estimated transit time only and does not guarantee same-day processing or shipment.


Order Cutoff Times

To be considered for expedited processing, orders must be placed and payment approved by the following cutoff times (Eastern Time):

  • Monday–Thursday: by 2:00 PM

  • Friday: by 12:00 PM


Orders placed after these cutoff times, on weekends, or on recognized holidays will be processed on the next business day. Weekends and holidays are not considered shipping or transit days.


Eligibility & Limitations

Expedited shipping availability is subject to:

  • Product availability at the time of order

  • Oversize, special handling, or freight requirements

  • Order complexity, including kits or back-ordered items

  • Carrier service availability and destination limitations


Certain products may not be eligible for expedited shipping.


Service Level & Carrier Selection

Shipping methods and carriers are selected based on the estimated delivery timeframe provided at checkout, not solely on the name or class of service. In some cases, a standard or ground shipping service may deliver an order faster than an air or expedited service based on destination, carrier routing, or transit schedules.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to ship orders using the carrier and service level that meets or exceeds the estimated delivery timeline shown at checkout, even if that service differs from the selected shipping method.


No refund or credit will be issued
when an order is delivered within the estimated delivery timeframe provided at checkout, regardless of the carrier or service level used.


Rates & Approval

Expedited shipping rates may vary based on order contents, destination, size, and weight. Ground Up Motors – SS396.com strongly recommends contacting the Sales Department prior to placing an order to confirm expedited shipping eligibility and obtain accurate pricing.


If expedited shipping is selected and an additional charge is required due to carrier reclassification or handling requirements, the order may be placed on hold pending customer approval. The order will not ship until approval is received.


Carrier Responsibility

Once an expedited shipment has been tendered to the carrier, delivery timelines are the responsibility of the carrier. Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for delays caused by weather, carrier service disruptions, customs holds, or other factors beyond our control.


Expedited shipping charges are non-refundable once the order has shipped
, regardless of carrier delays or delivery performance.

APO/FPO Shipping

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is proud to support active and retired military personnel and offers shipping to APO and FPO addresses where eligible.


Shipping Method & Eligibility

For APO and FPO addresses, USPS is the only available shipping method. Not all products are eligible for APO/FPO shipment due to size, weight, packaging, or USPS restrictions. Items requiring oversize handling, freight shipment, or special packaging may not be eligible.


Customers shipping to an APO or FPO address are strongly encouraged to contact Ground Up Motors – SS396.com prior to placing an order to verify product eligibility and ensure the order meets USPS size and weight limitations.


Transit Times & Limitations

APO/FPO delivery timelines are determined by USPS and military postal services and may be subject to delays due to customs processing, military handling, destination location, or operational conditions. Estimated delivery times are not guaranteed, and expedited shipping services are not available for APO/FPO shipments.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for delays once the shipment has been tendered to USPS.


Returns & Refunds

Orders shipped to APO/FPO addresses are subject to standard return policies; however, shipping charges are non-refundable, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise stated.


Military Discounts

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is honored to offer military discounts to eligible active-duty and retired military personnel. Customers are encouraged to contact our Customer Service team by phone or email prior to placing an order for discount eligibility verification and additional assistance.

Truck Freight Shipping

Freight Rates & Checkout Pricing

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com utilizes a flat-rate freight shipping program based on destination state and delivery address type (e.g., residential, commercial, limited access). Applicable freight charges are calculated and displayed at checkout for eligible orders.


All truck freight orders are subject to review to ensure accurate address classification, shipment configuration, and carrier compliance.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to adjust freight charges after checkout if:

  • The delivery address or access type was entered incorrectly

  • Shipment details materially change carrier requirements

  • Additional services or accessorial charges are required


Freight Order Fulfillment & Split Shipments

Truck freight orders are intended to ship complete, meaning all freight-eligible items will ship together in a single freight shipment.


If a customer requests that freight items ship separately or ahead of other freight items:

  • Additional freight charges equal to the original freight charge shown at checkout will apply for each additional freight shipment.

  • These additional charges must be approved prior to shipment.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may, at its discretion, ship non-freight items separately using standard shipping methods when appropriate.


Order Processing

Orders requiring truck freight are not considered finalized or reserved until payment has been successfully completed and all required freight details have been confirmed. Product availability is not guaranteed until the order has entered fulfillment.


Supplier-Direct Freight Shipments

Some freight items may be shipped directly from our suppliers or manufacturing partners rather than from a Ground Up Motors – SS396.com warehouse. In such cases:

  • Additional freight charges may apply, even if a freight charge was displayed at checkout

  • Charges may vary based on supplier location, carrier availability, or accessorial requirements

  • Any additional freight charges will be communicated and require customer approval prior to shipment


Orders requiring supplier-direct freight shipment will remain on hold until approval is received.


Delivery Information & Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for providing accurate and complete delivery information, including:

  • Correct delivery address

  • Residential vs. commercial designation

  • Access limitations (liftgate, limited access, appointment requirements, etc.)


Any additional fees, reclassification charges, accessorial fees, storage fees, or redelivery costs incurred as a result of incorrect, incomplete, or misleading delivery information are the sole responsibility of the customer and may be applied without prior notice.

3-Day Policy

All customers are responsible for inspecting their shipment immediately upon delivery. Ground Up Motors – SS396.com can only honor claims for damaged, missing, or incorrect items that are reported within three (3) business days of the delivery date.


Claims reported after the three (3) business day inspection window may not be eligible for replacement, refund, or credit.


Standard Ground Shipments

For standard ground shipments, customers must:

  • Inspect all packages and contents promptly upon delivery

  • Report any damage, shortages, or incorrect items to Ground Up Motors – SS396.com within three (3) business days of delivery


Failure to report issues within this timeframe may result in denial of the claim.


Truck Freight Shipments

Truck freight shipments require additional inspection responsibilities:

  • Freight shipments must be inspected at the time of delivery, while the driver is present

  • Customers must not allow the driver to leave before inspecting the shipment

  • Any visible damage, shortage, or packaging issues must be clearly noted on the Bill of Lading (BOL) before signing

  • If significant damage is present, the shipment should be refused and Ground Up Motors – SS396.com notified immediately


Failure to note damage on the Bill of Lading or refusal to inspect at delivery may result in denial of the claim.


All freight-related claims must still be reported to Ground Up Motors – SS396.com within three (3) business days of delivery.


General Claim Limitations

  • Concealed damage discovered after delivery must still be reported within the three (3) business day inspection window

  • Claims are subject to carrier review and approval

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to request photos, documentation, or carrier inspection reports

  • Replacement, refund, or credit decisions are made at the sole discretion of Ground Up Motors – SS396.com once carrier liability is determined


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for damage, loss, or shortages reported outside the inspection window or for issues resulting from improper handling after delivery.

Product Damages & Shortages

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com makes every effort to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and arrive in good condition. However, issues may occasionally occur during fulfillment, shipping, or manufacturing. Customers are responsible for inspecting all shipments promptly upon delivery.


Any claims for damaged, missing, or incorrectly shipped items must be reported within three (3) business days of delivery by contacting Ground Up Motors – SS396.com by phone or email.


Claims reported outside of this inspection window may be denied or limited based on carrier rules and manufacturer policies.


Carrier Damage at Delivery

If damage is visible at the time of delivery:

  • Customers are strongly advised to refuse the shipment and note the reason as carrier damage

  • For truck freight shipments, damage must be noted on the Bill of Lading (BOL) before signing

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com must be notified immediately so corrective action can be taken


Failure to note visible damage at delivery or refusal to inspect freight shipments may result in denial of the claim.


Claim Review & Documentation

To process a damage or shortage claim, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may require supporting documentation, including but not limited to:

  • Photographs of damaged items and packaging

  • Shipping labels and tracking numbers

  • Delivery receipts or Bills of Lading


Claims are subject to carrier review and approval. Ground Up Motors – SS396.com reserves the right to determine the appropriate resolution once liability is established.


Returns, Replacements & Compensation

When a claim is approved:

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may, at its discretion, provide a prepaid return shipping label for damaged or incorrectly shipped items

  • Resolution may include a replacement, refund, or store credit, as determined by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com


Prepaid return labels, replacements, or full compensation are not guaranteed and may not be available for claims reported after the three (3) business day inspection window.


Limitations

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for:

  • Damage, shortages, or incorrect items reported outside the inspection window

  • Issues caused by improper handling after delivery

  • Carrier delays, storage damage, or third-party handling after delivery

Shipment Refusals

If a shipment is refused at delivery, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com will treat the refusal as a return.


Unless the refusal is due to documented carrier damage (see Product Damages & Shortages and 3-Day Inspection & Claims Policy), the following will apply:

  • A 25% restocking fee will be assessed

  • All return shipping charges, including freight return costs and any carrier accessorial fees, are the responsibility of the customer

  • Original outbound shipping charges are non-refundable


Valid Damage-Related Refusals

Refusals due to carrier damage are only considered valid when:

  • Damage is clearly visible at the time of delivery

  • Damage is noted on the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading (BOL) before signing

  • Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is notified immediately


Failure to properly document damage at delivery may result in the refusal being treated as a standard refusal and subject to restocking and return shipping charges.


Additional Limitations

  • Refused shipments returned due to incorrect address information, delivery access issues, failure to accept delivery, or scheduling conflicts are not considered damage-related refusals

  • Freight shipments refused without valid, documented damage may also incur additional carrier fees, including redelivery, storage, or detention charges, which will be billed to the customer

Lost or Stolen Packages

Once an order has been shipped and marked as delivered by the carrier, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not responsible for lost, stolen, or missing packages.


Customers are responsible for providing a secure delivery location and for monitoring tracking information to ensure timely receipt of their shipment.


Carrier Responsibility & Claims

All delivery confirmations are based on carrier tracking data. Any claims related to loss, theft, or misdelivery after a package has been marked as delivered must be reported directly to the shipping carrier.


Ground Up Motors – SS396.com is not liable for replacement, refund, or credit for orders marked as delivered by the carrier.


Upon request, Ground Up Motors – SS396.com may assist by providing order documentation or shipment details needed to support a carrier claim. However, the outcome of any carrier investigation or claim is not guaranteed and remains the responsibility of the customer.


Additional Limitations

  • Orders delivered to freight forwarders, commercial addresses, or third-party locations are subject to the same carrier-delivered determination

  • Packages delivered without a signature are considered successfully delivered if confirmed by carrier tracking

  • Claims related to theft, porch piracy, or post-delivery loss are not the responsibility of Ground Up Motors – SS396.com

Returns & Exchanges

Returns & Exchanges Policy

Ground Up Motors – SS396.com accepts returns on eligible products subject to the conditions outlined below. All return requests must comply with this policy to be approved.


Return Authorization (RMA Required)

All returns must have a valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) issued by Ground Up Motors – SS396.com before any product is sent back.


Customers must contact the Ground Up Motors – SS396.com Customer Support team by phone or email to request an RMA. Returns sent without an RMA may not be accepted.


Returns received without an RMA may be:

  • Refused upon delivery, or Returned to the customer at the customer’s expense

  • Subject to a minimum 25% restocking fee, regardless of the time elapsed since delivery


Return Eligibility & Timeframes

Eligible products may be returned within thirty (30) days of delivery for a refund or exchange, provided the product:

  • Is in new, unused, and resalable condition

  • Is returned in its original packaging
