1964-1973 Chevelle big block windage tray is used to keep oil from splashing the crankshaft. Often installed on high performance engines. Windage is a force created on the crank and rods by the friction and weight of the oil when there is relative movement between air and the rotating assembly. Windage loss is the reduction in efficiency due to windage forces.
