On September 29th, 1966 the Camaro was released for the 1967 model year. Only five months after that the Firebird followed. These two would forever change the Pony car world and compete head-to-head with the Ford Mustang. There are six generations of F-Body Pony cars starting from 1967 to the present.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The first generation F-Body cars include the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. They are shared platform and similar styling, but each has its own unique features. The first generation cars feature a long hood and short rear deck, with a range of engine options including inline 6-cylinder, small block V8, and big block V8 engines. The interior design features a distinctive gauge cluster and bucket seats but some did have a rare bench seat option.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Camaro was available in a range of trims, including the base model, the Super Sport (SS), and the high-performance Z28. The second generation F-Body cars underwent a significant redesign, with a wider and lower body style. The Camaro and Firebird were still produced, but they had different front-end styling. The Camaro featured a front bumper and a long, pointed hood, while the Firebird had a distinctive “beak” front end.<\/p>

Engine options continued to range from inline 6-cylinder to big block V8 engines. The interior design was updated with a more modern look and various features including air conditioning and power windows. Another way to differentiate the first and second-generation F-Bodies is the second-gen does not have a rear quarter glass.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The third generation F-Body cars departed from the previous two generations, with a more aerodynamic body style. However, the styling is very sharp and ‘boxy’ unlike the first and second generations. The Camaro and Firebird had a shared platform but different styling with a sloping front end and a hatchback design.<\/p>

Engine options included a range of V6 and V8 engines, with fuel injection becoming more common – some of these even had straight four-cylinder engines. The interior design featured a more modern look and improved ergonomics. The high-performance IROC-Z and GTA models were introduced later in the generation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The fourth generation F-Body cars continued with the aerodynamic body style, but with updated styling – they look nothing like their predecessors. The Camaro and Firebird shared a platform, but with distinct styling and features. Engine options included a range of V6 and V8 engines, with increased emphasis on fuel efficiency and emissions reduction. The fourth gen’s was the first to receive the new LS power plant as well. The interior design was updated with a more driver-focused cockpit and a range of features such as air conditioning, power windows, and a sound system.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The fourth gen’s shared the same style of suspension as the third gen’s but the suspension doesn’t interchange. The fifth generation F-Body cars marked the return after it’s hiatus. The Chevrolet Camaro was the only F-Body car produced during this period, with an all-new design that retained many of the classic styling elements of the first generation including a long hood and short rear deck.<\/p>

Engine options included a range of V6 and V8 engines including the powerful LS3 platform, with a focus on improved performance and fuel efficiency. The interior design was updated with a more modern look, but a retro style that pays homage to the first generation. Lots of new features such as Bluetooth connectivity and a touch-screen infotainment system.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
