When he got the bug again to own a muscle car.

He started off looking at 1st gen Camaro’s online and soon realized that they were too expensive. So, he was able to afford a trip to the US and check out some cars.

He found a few nice cars that were affordable and well done. After returning home to Canada, he spotted a 1970 Nova for sale in Ontario. He had a friend in Ontario close to the location of the car. So he asked if they could go look at the car for him.

He called back and said, “come buy this car” as it is a total restoration car. Colin called the seller and arranged to fly down and purchase the 1970 Nova. After purchasing an airline ticket, the seller called back a few days later and said he didn’t want to sell it. Really!

So, he was back looking for a car again. A week later, the seller in Ontario with the 1970 Nova called him back and said he would sell him the car.

The first thought he had was, are you sure you want to sell it? As airline tickets aren’t cheap in Canada. The seller would only accept cash, traveling with a large sum of money is stressful but in the end, it was worth it.

The 1970 Nova was made into a tribute SS model. According to the VIN# and the seller, it was a 307 automatic car from California. It is a big block, M21 transmission, 12 bolt Moser, cowl induction hood with black interior in citrus green paint (original color of this car). The seller gave Colin a Ground Up catalog, and the rest is history.

Of course, when you buy a completed car there are always things you want to change. Since 2015 Colin has added QA1 shocks, Hotchkiss sway bars, 15” wheels, in-dash tach, and fixed a lot of small pieces on the car. Colin is currently working on small things to make it even more year-correct. With Ground Ups help new weatherstripping is being installed soon, and surely there will be more.

Colin had a few Muscle cars back in the early ’70s then life got in the way.
