{"id":28085,"date":"2020-09-14T13:13:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T17:13:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/cars\/?p=28085"},"modified":"2021-02-22T11:38:45","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T16:38:45","slug":"chaunceys-1970-nova-super-sport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/cars\/chaunceys-1970-nova-super-sport\/","title":{"rendered":"Chauncey\u2019s 1970 Nova Super Sport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This is one of three 1970 Novas that Chauncey has owned since being a teenager. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first one was a high school driver, the second one was a full out drag car, and this one is the best of both worlds; one bad street car that is fast enough for the drag strip but also runs on pump gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since owning this 1970 Nova, just about every nut and bolt as been inspected and replaced as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The engine is a 468 big block Chevy with two Holley 750 carbs with a BDS scoop, Merlin heads, Comp Cams custom ground hydraulic roller cam, JE blower pistons, 4340 crank and H beam 3D rods, windage tray, ARP studded bottom, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/category\/nova-msd.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">MSD<\/a> billet distributor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/category\/nova-hooker.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">Hooker<\/a> Super Comp 2 1\/8\u2033 headers, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/category\/nova-flowmaster.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">Flowmaster<\/a> one chamber 3 1\/2\u2033 exhaust all fueled by pump gas!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transmission is a TH400 with a reverse pattern manual valve body, Turbo Action Cheetah SCS shifter, trans brake, TCI extra deep pan, and a Strange CM one piece drive shaft with 1350 joints and CM yoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspension features a Ford 9\u2033 rear with Strange 31 spline axles, complete strange 3rd member with nodular iron case, true trac posi, 4.11 gear billet support CM yoke, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ss396.com\/category\/nova-qa1.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">QA1<\/a> coil overs with 130\/250 springs, and ladder bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 1970 Nova SS rides on Weld Rodlite 15 x 4 fronts and 15 x 15 rears with M\/T SR radials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The silver grey metallic paint with black stripes is laid down on an all steel body (minus hood).\u00a0According to Chauncey,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThis is one of the fastest street cars I have owned.
