1976-1979 Nova Tilt Steering Column Lower Bearing Upgrade Kit 7572

This reproduction steering bearing kit for 1976-1979 Nova replaces the factory GM bushing kit found at the base of the main steering column. It replaces the following four GM parts - adapter #7805822, bearing #7805700, retainer #7804440, and retainer clip #7804439.
You would want to replace this bearing if you are changing the lower steering shaft or replacing the steering coupler that attaches to the gear box, as the lower steering shaft has to be removed to slip the old bearing assembly out and install the new one. You do not need to remove the main steering shaft that this bearing kit goes onto.
This reproduction upgraded bearing kit includes everything you need and comes with the bearing already pressed into the plastic adapter. By offering a complete kit, any issues with trying to save original related parts are eliminated. Easy to follow directions are included.
Over the years, GM has used either a metal bearing or simply used a rubber like seal that attached on each side of the plastic adapter. Research shows that it appears GM simply used a rubber like two piece seal on all 1984-1987 Regals and other G-Body cars. Other cars, such as some Corvettes, received the upgraded metal bearing, as did many other GM vehicles of the early 1990s. By upgrading to a metal ball bearing format, it provides a much tighter secure fit and one that will outlast your Nova!
